Héctor J. Ferrer Ríos (born March 27, 1970) is a Puerto Rican lawyer and politician. He is currently a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives since 2001. He was also President of the Popular Democratic Party of Puerto Rico from 2008 to 2011.[1]

Héctor Ferrer became president of the Popular Democratic Party shortly after November 2008 when the Party suffered the biggest defeat in its seventy-year history. Following the devastating elections, the Party leaders looked to reorganize the PDP and adjust it to better address the concerns of voters. The leaders turned to Ferrer, in part because of his moderate views and in part because of the ample support he received in the elections. Even when his party suffered a major loss, Ferrer received the most number of votes to the House of Representative, getting more than anyone in the PDP or in the main opposition (and now majority) Party, the NPP [1].
